Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about using this app in the field, including how it works with no signal.
Does this work without a cell signal or wifi?
Yes. Once you've opened it at least one time with any connection (even a weak signal or a brief bit of wifi), your phone saves a copy of the app and every protocol in it. After that first load, it keeps working normally with no bars at all: open it, and it loads instantly from what's already saved on your phone, not from the internet.
How do I make sure it's saved for offline use?
Just open it once while you have a connection. It saves everything automatically in the background: there's no extra download button, no setting to turn on.
Will it update automatically when protocols change?
Any time you open it with a connection, it checks in the background for a newer version and saves it for next time. You don't have to do anything for updates to happen, but note that means updates only pull in when you have signal; if you're offline for a long stretch, you'll keep seeing whatever was saved on the last connected visit until you're back online.
How do I put this on my home screen?
On iPhone: open it in Safari, tap the Share button, then "Add to Home Screen." On Android: Chrome will often offer to install it automatically. Look for "Install app" in the menu (⋮), or "Add to Home screen" if not. Once installed, it opens like any other app on your phone, with the same offline behavior.
Do I need an account or a login?
No. There's no login and no account. Anyone with the link, or the app installed, can open it and start using it right away.
Is my activity tracked, or is any information collected about me?
No. There's no analytics, no ad tracking, and nothing to sign into, so nothing about who's using it or what they search for is collected.
How do I search for a specific protocol?
Use the search box on the home page. Type any part of a protocol's title, its category (Medical, Trauma, Operations), or its code (like MED-001), and matching protocols filter in as you type.
What happens if I lose signal while I'm already using it?
Nothing changes: everything saved stays available. You won't lose access to a protocol partway through reading it just because signal drops.
I think a protocol has an error, or one is missing. Who do I tell?
Report it to your supervisor or protocol coordinator so it can be corrected at the source. This app mirrors whatever the department has approved. It isn't itself the source of truth for protocol content.
